If you're afraid of it - then you better be scared now, because India has already been globalised.

My company (US owned) has offices in your country - they have "out-sourced" all the accounts to Chennai. My bank has its call centres in India. Three of my European customers also have offices in India.

Your friend above is right - a country cannot live in isolation if it wants to progress economically, it has to become part of the global economy - for better or worse.

I do not know what exactly you mean. Is it Indian culture or Indian Economy you are referring to. Any way, globbalization is a natural phenomenon and it has to proceed. Wealth moves from higher concentration to lower concentration once barriers are lifted till equilibrium is rerached. It is neither good nor bad.
Regarding Indian culture, it has started deteriorating much before globalization satrted. Hardly one finds children calling elders mama and kaka/chacha, They call uncle. Children rarely call their parents amma/appa/avva/maa/any other traditional way. Wherever we go we hear mom and dad. We hardly see people wearing our traditional clothes. Instead of our religious festivals, birthdays have become very important. These are certainly not the effects of globalization and then why blame globalization?

What? Why would we be scared of Indians? Globalisation is getting ahead in the world, making money that sort of thing. The Indian culture has nothing to do with it!
(by the way, you speak english, english people don't speak indian - doesn't that show you something?)

I think we have to get the fact straight that a country has to open up or never progress.

In ancient times, China was the major powerhouse, no country was even close to its might and wealth. It got arrogant and closed its door for a long time till it was forced open by the West.

Sooner or later the world will be a giant country, so to speak.

If India is going to benefit from the relocation of millions of American jobs, could you at least be grateful enough not to regard American culture as some kind of insidious virus.
