To be a counselor most places require you to have AT LEAST a Bachelor's degree, however depending on the organization you may need to be licensed and have a Master's degree. To be a psychologist you need a doctorate degree or a similar degree is called a Psy D. It's a doctorate degree, however it gives you more field experience, whereas a Ph. D gives you more research experience. I'm not sure how you'll go about continuing your education from home, however many schools do offer on-line classes. Be leary of on-line schools though. They may not be accredited or even real in some cased. Good luck to you.
