If you've read Jonathan Safran Foer's EVERYTHING IS ILLUMINATED, then I would hold off on reading EXTREMELY LOUD AND INCREDIBLY CLOSE. It was good, but a bit depressing and not as enjoyable as the former. I'd try reading something else in the list first.

Of the ones you've listed most are Booker Prize winners, so all are good. But my favourite of those is The History of Love. It does change characters a bit, but once you get started its great. A wonderful story to fill you with wam fuzzies

My wife is a great fan of Kate Grenville and she enjoyed "Dark Places."
It's not on your list but try Ken Follett"s " Pillars of the Earth." sometime. It's great.

I would certainly read THE SEA by John Banville as it is a super read. See the reviews left on amazon on the link below.

I really liked "White Teeth" and "Seven Types of Ambiguity," but I would start with Zadie Smith... her books are funny, complex and always entertaining.

I hated "Drop City," but a lot of people liked it.

"The History Of Love" Or "The Line Of Beauty"

They both sound very intriguing... Happy Reading! :)
