My music teacher is practically begging me to do it, the only problem is all i sing is rock like Evanescence and Flyleaf...my lowest note is the second G below middle C and my highest is the third octave above middle C...do you think i should go for it? I don't know if my voice will be able to adapt or not...oh well.

1) if you don't like opera music - don't do it. period. If you DO like opera, here's what i think:
2) If you sound like Amy Lee, of Evanescence (hey - any way i can hear a recording?), that is definitely a good starting point for Opera singing.
3) Your singing range sounds great. Opera lessons will help you develop it further. If you want a home study course, in http://www.reviewsnest.com/SingingLessons they review several courses. Disregard the 4 also-rans - the top course is amazing (used it myself) and promises n increase of at least 1 full octave in range, or your money back. I sing and play piano, and my singing has improved tremendously with it. Not a full octave yet- but working on it, and am sure i will get there.
4) Again - go with your heart. If you don't like opera - don't do it. if you do like - you should try it.

Good luck, whatever you choose. If there's any way i can hear your singing - i would appreciate it (u can email me to just_kim_usa@yahoo.com ), + will also give me a better idea of whether your voice will adapt or not.

If you are not a lover of opera, do it for the training on technique and the discipline. You can take that no matter where you go or what you sing

If you train as an opera singer, you'll increase your vocal range and have better tone, pitch, and breath control. It doesn't matter what you normally sing, you'll sing anything better with classical training.
