No; it is simply that your thought has not transferred from short term memory to long term memory. This is probably because some distraction has occured before it has had time to transfer. This could be something as simple as another thought.

Forgetting (retention loss) is a spontaneous or gradual process in which old memories are unable to be recalled from memory storage. It is subject to delicately balanced optimization that ensures that relevant memories are recalled. Forgetting can be prevented by repetition and/or evaluation of the information.
Memory storage, recall and forgetting is still a hotly debated field of inquiry. Little is known for sure about how humans encode, store and recall memories. It appears to involve changes on a biochemical level, which take time to occur. This contributes to the phenomenon of short-term memory and the learning curve.

I myself have a selective memory ...I only remember what I want to and forget the rest...and I have found this very handy living with my partner as he as selective hearing!!!!!!! he only hears what he wants to hear and pretends to not hear "can you wash the pots for me" or "make me a cuppa" so when he says "whats for tea? I say "oh I forgot you what you wanted" ;) comes in really handy for sure !!!!!!!!!!!!

Well,
in truth, would you really want to remember everything? Your mind would be cluttered with billions of bits of useless information, which you could not ignore. It would probably drive you insane

THis one guy -- I can't recall his name at the moment -- did some research on your questions. His findings were something interesting, I just can't recall them. Does that help? What was the question?
