It's diffcult to compile statistics because it is hard to differentiate between bullying and normal children's falling out. We have such a victim culture now that any child who argues with another or who feels intimidated by another can claim to have been bullied. Add some theatricals learned from "Eastenders" and overprotective parents and teachers and the whole concept is diluted. Then when some poor child feels rejected, the victim culture they encounter encourages them to feel sorry for themself and suicide occasionally results. A tragedy all round. I think we have to move away from blaming the bullies and towards showing children how to cope with the rough and tumble of everyday life and how to avoid being caught up in the whole sorry business.
