It sounds a bit like a slipped disc - this can be very painful. You are right to go to the doctor tomorrow, in the meantime, you need to try to just lie flat for the day if you can. Also take some Ibuprofen, which will help with the pain, and has a slight anti-inflammatory in it so reduce the swelling around the slipped disc.
Good luck!

You have a sprained (strained) back....virtually of two kinds...one is muscular (which will mend well within a fortnight) but in worst case scenario, you have a slipped disc...between the vertebrae are thick gelatinous 'shock absorbers' that cushion the spine, and the entire nervous system...sometimes because of age or activity, the disc moves sideways and allows the bones to impact or cause pressure on the nerves....instant pain, and usually a slow recovery or perhaps even a bone fusion. It is not life threatening or dangerous....only painful. I suspect from what you have said it is minor and your physician will prescribe some muscle relaxants and within days, you'll be ok. I am a physician.

Dont wait until the morning, goto A+E today
I work on Building sites and have had the same happen to me many times.
It could be simply a pulled muscle, but then it could be a slipped disk or trapped nerve
Ifso it needs treatment,ok maybe not an OP,but tabletts or an injection. You should look after your back, put a hot water bottle on the place it hurts and go TODAY
Get well soon,From Dortmund Germany

Try an osteopath or chiropracter They will massage the muscles which are in spasm and get them to release. However, visit your doctor first to make sure it isn't a slipped disc.
I did this a few years ago - couldn't move. I was put on muscle relaxers by the gp but it only was cured by the osteopath.
Osteopaths are gentler - they massage the muscles before they start yanking you around.

Warm pads/hot water bottle and Paracetomol till you get to the doctor. It happened to me when my son was about 6 weeks old; apparently its because the ligaments are still soft. You must remeber not to actually bend over but to bend your knees. If it is safe for the baby raise the level of the cot base for w hile.

I'm glad you're going to the Doctor. Don't worry meantime it may be just something quite simple to put right. However, some doctors don't advise you to go to a chiropractor but if you don't get treatment which solves the problem please try one I swear by them. I could barely walk for three months before I went to one, how I wish I'd gone sooner.

i had that before, from leaning to far, to much stress on the lower back, and it turnt out to be a trapped nerve, the problem is that while the massive pain that stops me moving has gone, it always aches, so i have a massage weekly, 1 of my mates from work has been to a charopractice and they solved the problem for him and he very rarely gets pain now, the doctor will advise you though, good luck
