I am not sure that one will replace the other. They seem to be running concurrently. I travel a lot and I have never seen as much anti-Americanism as during the Bush Administration. He has shamed and embarrassed us and the world is not blind to it. Israel and possibly Poland are the only two places where anti-Americanism does not seem to be prevalent.

It depends on what countries you look at. In Muslim countries of course you don't find Islamophobia, but a lot of anti-Americanism along with hatred for Israel, antisemitism and a general anti-Western attitude. In Europe I don't think there is very serious anti-Americanism now, many people are against Bush or they have some stereotypes, but that doesn't mean they hate America as such and people here (Europe) have at least the ideal that no country or people as such should be hated and it is a goal of education here not to hate like this. And people here have certainly more trust in the USA than in Islamic theocracies.

No. Because while Islamophobia arises from fear and loathing of customs and dress -- now enhanced by terrorism that arises not from Islam but from Political Islam (quite a different thing, but involving ;some Muslims) -- anti-Americanism arises from anger and disgust of America's imperialistic hubris, its openness and success. And however much Iranians (say) claim to hate America, many or most have family and friends there, or know someone who does, and many or most would like to be there, at least some of the time.
About 1970 at an UNCTAD conference in East Africa, an American asked why "everybody" blamed America for everything and professed to "hate" America. The answer was revealing: because the Soviets don't care what we say about them, and aren't going to take account of our opinions; and the Americans hold themselves (profess) to a high standard whatever their actual faults.

Anti americanism is only due to existing administration and will not remain for long if we can dream again about the values of America. There are still some, obvioulsy but hidden today.
Regarding islamophobia, it is much more complex and is much more difficult to disappear as far as muslim countries will not change or progress so fast in the direction that we would expect.
Tolerance in faith, women rights, terrorism, etc...
Without offense as well.

Unfortunately, people lump Bush policies with being American. There will always be Anti-Americanism but I think it will be less pervasive when Bush is out of office. I think as long as there are problems in the Middle East there will always be Islamophobia, deserved or not.

Both concepts are running hand in hand. You know why? Our infamous president Bush has disgraced our country and only succeeded in increasing terrorism worldwide. Bush is NOT fit to be president, let alone the president of a fast food joint.
