I have had a look on Google Earth and it looks like it is just along the coast. I suppose there are flights but can it be driven or maybe possible to take a train or something. Grateful for someone who knows the area.

To get to Abu Dhabi from Dubai you need only to go west from Sheik Zayed Road towards Jebel Ali and follow the road for about 1,5 hours (around 120 km) until you see sign for Maqta Bridge and for Abu Dhabi Citiy Center.

No train, take a cab or rent a car.

the best way is by car or bus its a straight road from the sheikh zayed rd and will take approk 1hr 30mins dont drive during the day its too hot best time around 2100 traffic not too busy then.
You can't fly there because of the short distance. If you fly into Abu Dhabi on etihad airlines they provide shuttle bus to dubai and most hotels these days provide transfers to either destination.

It is just along the coast. It is roughly 160km to Abu Dhabi from the centre of Dubai. My suggestion is rent a car and drive, it is relatively cheap. Otherwise you could get a chauffeur to drive you (also provided by the car rental company). Alternately there are buses.

The best way is to take a taxi or a bus from Dubia to Abu Dhabi.

There isn't any trains.

You can get flights but by the time you check in and fly you could be there.

You can get a taxi for youeslf or you can share one which means you share the cost. It will take about 1 1/2 hours to get there.
