I'm 18 and my curfew is 11. When I was 16, my curfew was 9:30 with the exception of any school-related function. But when I was 16, I didn't work. Now I work and my mom lets me come home later than 11 only if it is because of work. However, if I get off of work before 11, I must be home by then. My brother is 16 and his curfew is 10. However if for some reason, he must work past his curfew, he is allowed to do so. I'd use the rule my mom used all the time: if it's a school night, get home as soon as possible. Beyond that, it is truly up to you. He is 16 and should be responsible enough to wake himself up. You should not have to wake him up at this age. Perhaps you should let him sleep in once and maybe be late to work or school to teach him to be responsible for his own sleep. He's training to be a mechanic; mechanics work around tight time schedules in order to fulfill a customer's need. He needs to be able to apply that to his life (sleep included) in order to not only be a successful mechanic but eventually a responsible adult. He does not need his mother to wake him up every day of his life.

Every guys like linger or date during the night then getting up hardly in the morning!
I don't think it could be a good idea to put some prefixed limit for that. On that case, as like as any thing for free, he would try to be back at the fixed time even if able to return early or, as teenagers usually do, looking at that time as a privation (a taunt) to defy! Besides, the decent time you mentioned can change from place to place and within different seasons. It's different to be outside at 10 p.m. in the centre of Paris or in a little suburb in New York i.e. as well as during the winter or the summer!
Accordingly to the season and to the place where you're living in I advise you to get a free chat with him about that topic.
The firm point will be the necessity to get up at the right time in the morning, independently from the time he will be back in the night! You both could set -roughly- a time (decent for you both) he should try to respect, possibly. Anyway, with no duress or punishment.... never!

Depends on him and how safe the area is.

Whether he has the matury to be trusted to go out and not get **** faced on a college night...

diff with diff people.

Ie if part of a safe scene like say rock/metal in safe areas, does not party to the point dozy etc then freedom.

If cant be that responsible restrict
hes growing up and needs your support to adjust the balance.

Note if sleepy in worshiop could be horribly injured or injure others..

Radio alarms help as do sticking them accross the room, as do water pistols and a large dog

He needs to start getting up on his own. He's too old to be woken up by you. When do you plan to stop that, when he's 22? Let him miss class a few times or be late for work or whatever so he feels the consequence of not going about life in an orderly way. He's two years away from being an adult.

Try to keep a consistent sleeping time, like 7 or 8 hours per night.

I wish I could do this again with myself. I'm averaging 3 -4 hours a night, sometimes I go to class without sleep.

Good luck.

I would say 23:00. That way if he had to get up at 07:00 he would have 8hrs sleep which should be sufficient. Otherwise i would also recommend a good multivitamin or energy booster. Consult your nearest pharmacy for aid in choosing the correct one.

I would go by your local Curfew at least. Here it is 10 on weekdays and 11 on weekends. It is illeagal for anyone under 17 to be out after those hours.
