(a + 2b) (2 + b) - (2a + 2b) (a - b) - (3a^2 - 12b^2 + 2)

It's all a matter of just foiling and simplifying.

2a + ab + 4b + 2b^2 - (2a^2 - 2ab + 2ab - 2b^2) - 3a^2 + 12b^2 - 2

Group like terms,

2a + ab + 4b + 14b^2 - 3a^2 - 2 - (2a^2 - 2b^2)

Expand the minus,

2a + ab + 4 + 14b^2 - 3a^2 - 2 - 2a^2 + 2b^2

Group like terms,

2a + ab + 4 + 16b^2 - 5a^2 - 2

Do you propose that y represents the form of girls and x the form of adult adult males in the workplace. Then x = 5y and x + y = 50, so 5y + y = 50 Sorry, your records is defective, this claims there are 8 a million/3 women folk in the workplace and 40-one 2/3 adult adult males. maybe you meant there are 60 workers?
