So, I know that they like each other and all, but the whole compass thing in DMC is really confusing me. I know that It Points to Jack when Elizabeth is holding it, but does it point to her when Jack is holding it. Heres what I think: The reason that Jack can't use the compass at the begining of the movie to find Davey Jones' chest is because he's conflicted by two overwhelming desires; Elizabeth and the Chest. So the Compass doesn't know where to point because he wants them both so bad. And when they are on the Island it finally gives him a direction when Elizabeth and The Chest are in the Same place (she's sittin on the thing lol). So let me know if you agree. thanks!

Elizabeth loves Will. She has since she was a child. The compass points to what you what most at the time you're holding the thing.
Every time the compass points at Jack, ask yourself, where is Will? Each time, he is very likely behind Jack. On the Isla Cruces, he was swimming toward them from the sinking Dutchman. On the Black Pearl, he was on the sea somewhere fighting the Kraken. on. But on the Pearl, it could have still been pointing toward the chest that Elizabeth needs to save Will. Jack is at the front of the boat and Isla Cruces is where they were going so which direction is the Isla Cruces? Behind Jack.
So each time we think it may be pointing at Jack, what is the compass really pointing at?
BUT, it is possible to be absolutely in love with somebody and temporarily attracted to somebody else. The compass doesn't point to your "heart's desire". It points to "what you want most" when you're holding it. We all know that that can change depending on what day it is. So yeah, it could have pointed at Jack. But Elizabeth loves Will. She loves him enough to kiss Sparrow and send him to death in order to save Will. She didn't kiss Jack earlier, only when she had to in order to save Will.
