Yes I have and I would rather take a person out to eat rather then just send them off and give them money. Mainly because I feel a responsibly to use my money wisely.

There are people on the streets who are begging that don't really need it and then there are those who do so you have to be careful where your money goes to because some people will use it for drugs and I don't support drug use and abuse.

So you have to use street smarts so that you don't throw your money away on someone who is pan handling and making a business out of it. There are people that do that.

Even if a person is short of money and they don't have enough to pay for their groceries you bet I would help. I have had others do that for me when I was short of cash.

If it's a real necessity yes I would help. Charity begins at home which means where I live. If it were around the world then I would have to go with a trusted organization that I know I could trust.

You have to be careful on line with people because sometimes people could be asking for something where as it puts you on the spot and they steal your identity by saying they are such and such.

It's important to know the difference between what is a scam verses what is not.

Yes, I would and I do. There is a lot of people in the world struggling and they don't know where their next meal will come from, let alone anything else. I have more than enough to live on, so I think it's the right thing to do to help someone less fortunate.

The only problem for me is how hard it is to get the money to the poor. Aid organizations need money for their operational costs, which means that there's less left for the poor people the money was intended for. Some aid organizations are also corrupt or pay ridiculously high salaries to their directors or waste money on other things, so too many donations never make it to where they were intended to go. I wish it was easier to give and know that the money will actually help someone in need. Nowadays I can never be sure whether my donation really helped someone.

Public or private social services in my country are so poor that the only choice is to give money directly to the poor. Very rarely some foreign organizations really do good things to the poor.

It is not only the poor man's guilt of not being willing to work, thanks God, many poor young people from the countryside left abroad to work. It is the whole system which doesn't work.

Very few companies develop social marketing campaigns and the rich don't really care, prefering to spend their money on expensive holidays abroad than developing local communities.

I would give money to specific organizations which help the poor meet specific needs like medical care and schooling. I would never give money to the bum on the street because odds are he would turn around and use it for booze - however, if I had the resources I would be more than happy to help him find a job, shelter, food, etc as long as he was willing to help himself.

In general I believe that giving money directly to poor people does very little to remedy their situation. I feel the money is put to better use when it goes toward something that helps someone better themselves in the long run.

I certainly would. If I knew what my money was doing. But now-a-days you don't know what your money is going towards. it could be anything really. Take for instance. With the Boxing Day Tsunami it was shown on the news what their country looks liek now. The beaches are luxurious. That's what some peoples money has been poured into. Why not just buy food

The greatest world is our imediate surrounding...we can start our best from there. I will not give to geographical entity but to the world closest to me. If we all adopt this style, the world could be a better place. Take an example from hurricane Katrina and the popular thought all around the world that America is so damn rich.

I would and actually DO. I sponsor a child who lives in Haiti and try to help him and his family as much as I can sending them money every month. I think EVERYBODY should give to the poor, no matter how, just GIVE and share what you have with those who have less. Peace.
