If you seem to know things they don't, they will tend to exaggerate your intelligence. Don't let it bother you. Chances are you really are smarter than you realize. Or to me more exact, others are duller than you realize.
Think about it: average IQ is, by definition, 100. Who do you know that has an IQ of 100? Pretty dull person, right?
But then the top end of the bell curve -- the super smart -- are walking around where you can meet them. But the bottom of the bell curve are in hospitals and otherwise out of sight. So the people walking around may average maybe 105 to 110.
Who do you know that has an IQ of 105 to 110. Pretty dull person, right?

You really kind of setting yourself up asking a question like this. The only person who could answer this seriously is all but admitting he or she is NOT smart.
So you're not going to get a lot of serious answers.

Maybe you're smarter than you think, or maybe you have some knowledge that they don't have and it gives them the idea you're smart.
