My friend told me about a way to get them to go away that really works!! You soak tea bags in boiling water, when the temp of the tea bags come down to where it's not way too hot then put them on your eyes, leave them there until the tea bag no longer has any heat in it. Rinse your face with warm water, but dont use soap of any kind so the reminents of the tea are not wased away completely so it can work even more over night. She said the antioxidents and other qualities of the tea release some of the blood clotting that causes undereye circles which are either caused by lack of sleep or are gentic. Do it at night before bed, it is relaxing and you see a difference right away plus the longer you leave the tea on your skin the better it works and by morning with the combo of sleep and the tea there is a significant difference. You can of course do it during the day and also see great results, I do it sometimes before we go out somewhere and I have actually had people tell me how fresh I look. Well hope it works as well for you as it does for me!!

I suffer dark circles due to wonderful genetics - yeah, thanks Dad.
I have research this topic and have found that dark circles are caused by oxidation of haemoglobin in the capillaries around the eye area. The capillaries leak blood causing that bruised looking pigmentation.
Anyway, sleep, cucumbers, water, vitamins and the rest do not work. There is a new product available at Myers called 'Hylexin' and is for serious dark circles. It's expensive and claims to help.
I have just started using it and am waiting to see results.
Otherwise, a good foundation is your best bet.

It can be a sign that you are suffering from eye-strain, perhaps where you don't have the eye-glasses that you need for long-distances or reading or you are spending too much time on a computer or watching TV.

Cut self abuse down to at least once a day.
And as for mindy's suggestion of using cucumbers. I found that quite disgusting.
