I love Egypt almost as much as my Australia.
I now call both home and feel very lucky to do so.
They are very different, but in many ways the same!
Egyptian people are friendly, but showing respect means a lot towards acceptance.
They are very tolerant of Western ignorance of thier culture.
Cairo is a huge city and like in cities all over the world, the people are in a hurry.Caught up in thier own life and existance.
But there is so much to see and do!
The taxis are an experience, seems they rely on a horn brakes and bravado. They still amaze me.
It is a city of vast diverity of culture and wealth.
I prefer life and the people further up the Nile. Luxor and its surrounding area is my favorite place and now home!
When I am in Egypt I live on the West bank in a small community called el Gezira.
From my front balcony at night,I can look across the Nile and see Luxor and The Temple lit up.
Its so beautiful.
From the back I see El Qurn and the cliffs that shelter the Valley of the Kings.
What more could a student Egyptologist wish for?
The people here are more rural and life has its own unhurried pace.
People sit outside thier houses and chat for hours.Everyone knows everyone. Its a real community.
Everyone made me feel so welcome when I finally moved over.
So different to Luxor city and Cairo, and hardly any traffic.
If I want the city and shops, its just a ferry ride of 7 minutes across the Nile.Cost 1L.E.
The fruit and vedgies are fresh and so cheap.
We also now have broadband! At last!
No one could feel stressed after taking an hour out to go sit and gaze at the Nile.
Do nothing, just let your imagination roam!
Egypt has won my heart!

I get so excited before traveling to Egypt! I live here in the UK and here everyone sleeps at 9pm. In Egypt hardly anyone sleeps! i love the culture at that you could go shopping 11:00 at night without the fear of being attacked. i also love to stay with my family in Egypt, i don't like it when they stuff me so much with food my stomach is about to burst! lol typical Egyptians. I just feel at home as soon as i am Egypt and i get so sad when i have to leave! :( Egypt is great for a holiday but living over there is a different story.
God bless! x

Take a look at this website threewebe.typepad.com. Scroll down till you see a movie screen with palm trees in the desert and watch from google video. This is my sister's personal video aspect of one of the times we went to Egypt, it's really cool.

Cairo is something that one has to get used to, but I stayed with friends in Al-Maadi, a more upscale part of Cairo. I also visited Aswan and Luxor and found them amazing as well.
