During the summer, Hawaii offers approximately 14-16 hours between sunrise and sunset. Sunsets around 7 p.m.

During the winter, it's about 12 hours with the sun setting around 5 p.m.

If you want to know the monthly time of the sunset/sunrise in a particular city in Hawaii, check out: http://www.sunrisesunset.com/usa/Hawaii.asp

Summer months have longer days-- same as the mainland. All places north of the equator have the same months that are summer--- although the closer to the equator you are the more months are warm. Below the equator, summer is in December.
Hawaii's latitude is the same as Mexico City's--- so our length of day is identical with theirs.
While it is true there is less difference between hours of sunlight in the summer and winter than in the continental US, the difference is not as great as you'd think. Winter days are still considerably shorter than summer days.
The BIG difference is when you go north to Alaska--- where obviously it is VERY noticeable!
P.S. The choice to not do daylight savings is not because our days are not shorter in the winter. It just was never done in Hawaii, same as a few other states.

I'm not sure which are longer, but the difference is a lot less than the mainland cause you're so much closer to the Equator.Since you won't move a drasically towards and away from the sun there won't beas much difference. Hence,no daylight savings either.

The days are starting to lengthen out now, but your best months for the most daylight hours of the year will be May, June and July.
