okay...now u don't want to hurt him and the best way to do that is to be upfront and talk to him privately without hurting his ego...so your speech should be like this (lets call him John).
John,
I really like you and I think you are a great guy because you have a great personality and you look very hot. And in a different time and place, I would have jumped all over you, but right now, I am really preoccuppied with other things in my life and my interests lie elsewhere. I value your friendship and I hope you respect my honesty because I certainly value your friendship.

Tell your friend that you understand how he/she feels, but that you just do not have the same feelings. Also explain that you would not want to force a relationship that would not last a day.

Just be honest, he will prob be a bit put off for a while and be a bit distant but he will be fine. If he values you as a friend and wants to be more than friends he will want to hold on to you as much as he can

I'd say something like "Firstly, I'm really flattered but you are a really good friend and I want to keep it that way. I think you're great fun and I love your company but despite that, and I know it's a cliche, you're not my type. Please don't be offended and please try and see this from my perspective by not making things awkward. I have no desire to change anything between us for fear of loosing or damaging our current relationship which I hope you agree, works so well."

tell him that you dont want to lose him as a friend and if you both were dating then it all could come to an end, also let him know that you dont have those feelings for him in that way. be straight

just tell ur friend that u dont like him the way he likes u and that u only want to be friends no more no less and hopefully he will understand so good luck!!!!

You can just tell him politely that you wish to continue the relationship up to an extent or limit, if he goes beyond that limit, you may tell him that you might re-consider your decision to continue friendship with him. If he is genuine persons, he will understand your concerns.

i went through this last week!! just tell him, expect him to give you the silent treayment for a while, it will just be because he feels hes made a fool of himself.
Dont stress to much about it,its not your fault you dont want to be with him
