Yes..... I have a glass ashtray that belonged to my grandfather. He died from emphysema. I was allowed to chose whatever I wanted..... Somehow, the ashtray seemed to have some significance to it and I thought it might serve as a reminder to not smoke anymore. I miss him...It sounds like you miss your dad too. I'm glad you have the sail boat. Treasure it always.....

I kept the little hats that newborns get at the hospital from both my niece and my nephew. I gave it back to them when they turned into young adults. I also have a very special bottle of alcohol from my step dad.

I have a Bible that my grandparents gave me for Easter one year. When I was six, my grandmother prayed with me on it, and while she is still here, my grandfather is not. He passed in January of 1998 and he will always be in my heart, but I am happy to know that he is in heaven. He was a very great man :)

My dad got a silver dollar the year I was born, kept it until he passed away. He gave it to me 2 weeks before he died. I have had it encased and display it in my living room.

The flag from my Uncle's funeral, it's in a nice display case with his name on it. I'm also thinking about getting one of those "memorial" type frames for the christmas holidays with a picture of my grandpa in it, since he won't be with us next year, we will always remember him.

It's not necessarily from someone, but it does represent my general childhood. My toys, my old clothes, they remind of childhood. Sometimes just touching them helps me.
