Has anyone opted to give birth in an active birth unit at a hospital? This sounds like a very appealing option to me, although quite different from what all my friends are chosing. I would like to hear your experiences especially if you've experienced both active birth and conventional natural.

Thanks!

Active birth is incredibly liberating! If having an active birth, where you're the one in control choosing your positions and making decisions appeals to you, it is a FAR better option than a conventional birth. In conventional births, your doctor is going to be the one telling you what to do and "allowing" you to do only what he feels is safe. Some women are really comfortable with this. I was not one of them.

Active birth puts you in control. I was allowed to choose my positions and it helped immensely. I didn't even feel the want to have an epidural. It is very calming to be able to trust your body and go with it in a way that you are comfortable.

If you have the option to have an active birth, go for it. It really beats being stuck in bed when you don't want to be!

Hope this helps! =)
