Hands down I would have to say the Jets. No one at the beginning of the year gave them a chance of being a 6 win team let alone in the playoffs with a good chance of beating the patriots. No offence to the Saints fans, but with Drew and Reggie you knew you were going to be pretty good.

Biggest surprise for me was LT beating Shaun Alexanders record of 29 touchdowns. The recorded only lasted a year. This is much like the Sammy Sosa, Mark Maguire, Barry Bonds HR records. What should we expect in the future of football?
Teams, I would say the biggest surprises were the Steelers for not making the playoffs and the Chargers for having the best record in the NFL. I am sure most thought the top team would be the Bears or the Colts. I am also surpised by the play of the Ravens. I think they are the team that can prove once again that defense win Superbowls.

I would say the New York Jets. Sports analysts predicted the Jets would only win 6 games. The Jets went on to win 10 games instead. Jets QB Chad Pennington won the NFL Comeback Player of the Year. The Jets, by a landslide.

Good surprises-Saints, Jets, Chargers, Ravens. I have to give it to the Saints because they won 3 games last year and 10 this year (amazing improvement). Do not be surprised to see the Saints in the Super Bowl. Bad surprises-Panthers, Steelers, Bengals. My nod here is to the Bengals they were just awful down the stretch and saved some of their worst football for the last two games when it really mattered.

tHIS maybe a bad statement but the Texans did comeback to do pretty good..............i mean since the 2-14 record last year come on. i don't know about david carr but come on draft vince young. To say the good surprise was probably the Jets...i have to say because in the begining everyone just underated them. I wouldn't be surprised if they beat the patriots. The bad surprise was................the steelers. how can u come off of a superbowl win into such a bad season?

I would definitely have to say the New Orleans Saints. Everybody thought Bush would go first in the draft, so when Williams went first, the Saints jumped on him. He has been a big contributor to their 2006 campaign. With Drew Brees throwing the ball the way he did, the Saints did great. I don't think anybody predicted them to do this good.

I'd have to say the Baltimore Ravens... their offensive game is drastically improved and they have become Superbowl contenders this year while last year they were struggling with a bad QB and people calling for coach Brian Billick's head to be served up on a platter !

SAINTS...I don't think anyone had them picked to win their division, let alone make the playoffs...seeing the SuperBowl champs finish 8-8 and miss the playoffs was also pretty surprising.

The Bears were no surprise, just Rex Grossman. But the NO Saints have had the most surprising year, in my opinion. I think the Cleveland Browns were supposed to win more games with their playmakers back this year, but again, they sucked.
