How long does it take for my body to figure out it is pregnant if I don't get a period? Could I be pregnant? I have a 7 year old so it has been a long time and I don't remember how soon I started to feel pregnant, or how it was that I felt. Should I go and Buy a home pregnancy test? I heard that if you were on thedepo shot and still not getting periods that it is possible to concieve, but that because of the hormones in the shot a pregnancy test may not be accurate. Is that true? What do I do? Thanks

It depends on your body the extra hormones may give a false positive on the pregnancy test but considering the amount of time you have been off not likely. it can take over 2 years to get pregnant after depo or that week just depends. i was on depo for over 5 years and didn't have a period the entire time. You probably need to have your thyroid tested. once i got off the shot and onto another no baby pill my periods were really weird, found out that i have hypothyroidism, that was the cause of my irregularity. your thyroid could be out of wack and causing the laps in your periods, best to have your doc perform a thyroid test, but defiantly go to the doc!

I was on depo for many many years. I stopped taking it 1mo before I found out I was pregnant with my second son. I had a positive home test before I saw my doctor. I would take a home test first if you don't want to spend the big bucks on seeing your doctor just yet and if by the end of this month you feel any symptoms (like nausea being very sleepy tender breasts and a feeling of a full bladder all the time). You should get a blood test done. It is said that it only takes about one month for a birth control to work it's way out of your system. Though the depo shot can stop your periods for up to two years after stopping use. I still don't get mine regularly after 6 years and I've had a third child.

I took one dose of depo and gained alot of weight so i discontinued the use of it. However I still had not gotten my period a year and a half later. During that time I had unprotected sex and not gotten pregnant however AFTER I got my period back I was able to concieve. However everybody is diffrent and from what I hear about other people on Depo others have had diffrent and similar reactions. My best advice would be to talk with a doctor.

Get a pregnancy test!

Some women get pregnant right off the depo shot and some have to go to a specialist to get pregnant whether or not they have gotten a period since getting off depo.

Everyone is different with that shot. I was on it for 2 years, and it took me about a year and a half to get my period back, after the first cycle I found out that I was pregnant and ended up miscarring that I chose to blame on that shot, and getting pregnant so quickly

First, I would take a home pregnancy test. Then I would go to the doctor. If you are not pregnant, he/she can determine why you haven't had periods yet.
