Is it better to stay in Downtown Cairo or near the Pyramids? What's the difference between a superior/deluxe hotel? Which one captures the best view of its surroundings? What is the best way to get around Cairo, especially to and from the airport? Is it easy to travel from Cairo, Egypt to Adana, Turkey -if so, who do I fly?

hi, look
5 starts hotels are the best ofcourse, but if we're talking about a limited budget, go for the 4 stars hotels, dont go below that as here in egypt a 3 stars hotel is not that good, compared to 3 stars in the west.
if u wanna be around a good view and surroundings, u should stayin "al Haram" which is a district in Giza and most of the hotels there can see the pyramids.
but my advice, dont just stay in giza, ur gonna miss alot of good siteseeing in cairo, sharm, hurghada, luxor..., u need to find a good package (some are affordable) so u can visit many places, cause its not all about the pyramids.
use this www.intoegypt.com
dont use public buses, u dont wanna experience that:) its horrible, just use a taxi, or there is this new cab, which u can call it from anywhere, dont worry about it, cause if u like in australia, u'll find that transportation in egypt is very cheap.
the lemo from the airport, will take around 100-130 egyptian pounds, its not that expensive, or u can simply take a taxi for 50-70 egyptian pounds.
its very easy to travel to turkey from egypt, its only two hours and 45 minutes, there are charter planes for only 900 pounds for a ticket, or u can book it from EgyptAir, but its gonna be more expensive.
once ur here in egypt, u'll find different offices for travel, like egyptAir, alitalia...etc so u can ask there and book ur flight.

Have a safe trip:)

I would stay along the Nile and just travel out to the pyramids. Because you will be closer to the train station and can leave Cairo. Zemelek is a good area and I saw a Marriot there. I recommend that you stay with the main hotel names I used Hilton. The best view of the surroundings is definitely on the Nile. Make sure that you see the Cairo Tower. I like traveling by taxi and they are very cheap. Try to find out the fare before you hop in. If you find a driver that you like keep using the same one.
From airport use Taxi or maybe the hotel has a shuttle.
I believe I'm right when saying this but fly Air Egypt.
That is quite an undertaking if you are going to Egypt and Turkey on the same trip! WOW both places need lots of time to appreciate all that they have.

My favorite is the Four Seasons in Cairo - it's like an oasis in the city, and if you spend much time in Cairo you'll appreciate that. At the Four Seasons, ask for a Nile view room.
There's also a great, older hotel right by the pyramids, called the Mena House. It's absolutely beautiful with a great view of the pyramids, nice gardens to walk through, and a good bar.
It's very cheap to take taxis, but you need to know where you're going, or get someone to tell the driver before you get in, since a lot of drivers don't speak much English. You should also agree to a price before getting in the cab.

The Windsor hotel is nice it's got an old charm to it. Also in Zamalek there is the Hotel Flamenco, they have a really nice breakfast and there's a pizza hut right across the street as well as a Metro market. Make sure you do some shopping in the khan il kalili. Of course a nice 5 star would have to be the Oberon Mena House right next to the pyramids.
