First, the IUD is in your uterus, not your cervix.
Yes, you can get pregnant, the IUD isnt perfect. But, from the information I have, it is the most effective form of birth control. I have had an IUD for over two years now, and havent become pregnant. I know of people that have had them for 5+ years, and never got pregnant. If you are worried about the effectiveness, use a back up form of birth control, such as a condom, or a spermacide.

Yes u can get pregnant with anything you use, If you read any of the packages it usually says 99% safe leaving you with 1% but for the most they work I never used the kind you are now I always had the pill or depo shot because I was afraid to get defected equipment like: rubbers of foam .... anyway if your not sure what to use as a nurse, or if its to late maybe you should make an appointment for the clinic? Hope all works out to your advantage Good Luck! sunnydays

As much as 7% of all IUDs will be expelled by a woman’s body within the first year, mainly within the first few months. Women who fail to realize that their IUD has been expelled are likely to become pregnant. An expelled IUD accounts for 1/3 of all pregnancies that occur to women using an IUD.

As with all birth control, yes you can. But the failure rate is about 1-6%, about the same as birth control pills and condoms.
All second-generation IUDs have failure rates of less than 1% per year, and cumulative 10-year failure rates of 2-6%.The frameless ones also has a failure rate of less than 1% per year.Worldwide, older IUD models with lower effectiveness rates are no longer produced.

YES! It is very rare to happen but it still happens. My sister in law got preg using her IUD and they have to surgically remove it. It was very dangerous and she could have lost the baby. BUT its a very rare thing to happen. IUD is the best contraceptive out there

It's rare but it happens. My aunt had it happen to her and the baby got tangled up in it. They couldn't remove it, either once she was pregnant without killing the baby or her. She almost bled to death and he was born 2 months premature. Don't wanna scare you but that's the truth. No birth control methos is 100% effective--remember that.
