nibble off the fins of my guarami(sp?) Was he sick? I know nothing about fish...my husband brought this aquarium home.

sounds like you have aggressive fish in your tank. when you buy from the pet store it's always important to get "community" fish for your tank so they get along together. it may be its just one or two fish that is doing this. i suppose its also possible that the fish is sick and the others are taking advantage of it. you should research the types of fish and find out if they are aggressive or not. otherwise i don't know what to tell you.

some fish are very territorial. Your tank may be too small, and the aggressive fish is just protecting his territory. You may want to remove all of the territorial / aggressive fish and replace them with kinder more community friendly fish.

Sounds like you have some tropical fish in your tank. They can be very aggressive and go after the weaker fish.

I'm sorry to hear about your fish. This is totally normal behaviour for some fish, animals and reptiles, survival of the fittest.

Never mix species of fish before you are aware of their traits. This is what happens, sorry to hear this but you've had a lesson from Mother Nature. Listen to what she told you.

it depends on what fish you put in the tank with it. If you put fish with that are bad together than its going to do that, like if you put a goldfish with a betta the goldfish will eat the betta.
