Unless you smoke, wouldn't you rather smell the food, instead of people smoking around you?

Yes, like most people, breathing over 4000 chemicals in tobacco smoke bothers me, especially if I'm trying to enjoy a nice meal. I've heard that about half of all smokers sit in nonsmoking sections in restaurants, because they don't like to be around it when they are eating.

No way -- at least it is the one thing this state has gotten right I live in. Nothing is worse than having to breathe smoke in restaurants trying to enjoy a good meal. Heck, my good brother in Florida even signed a law to ban smoking in most restauants there. :)

The ironic thing is, that most of the people here leave for the state with the city that will probably be the last in the whole United States to ban smoking in restaurants every weekend.

I am a smoker but, however I cant stand the smell of other peoples smoke, I really should quit! I like to also smoke before my meal and then right after. But it was a great idea to make non smoking in restaurants that way you are able to breath fresh air and the great food.

I work in a restaurant where the smoking section is considerably smaller than non and is so far away that the smell isn't noticeable unless you're on your way out or to the bathroom or something. Lots of restaurants are like that. I smoke and smoking doesn't bother me when i'm eating, and i can still smell my food. But when i eat out with non-smokers we sit in non, i feel like is polite and respectful to do so. If smoke really bothers you there are lots of restaurants out there that have good air filtration, spaced out sections or a tottally non- smoking.

I use to smoke, I quit 1 year and 1/2 ago...and I don't like the smell of cigarettes at all. Last night I went to a chain restaurant (TGI Friday's) which I don't ever go to..we had to sit in the smoking section and it was nasty. I'm sure you can smell it wherever you sit though. I would definitely rather smell good food as opposed to cigarettes. The smoke smell ruins the atmosphere.

In Cali it has been illegal to smoke in restaurants, and even bars, for years now and I can't imagine it at all.
I smoke, but NEVER in-doors, so I don't think I would want to smell it during a meal either.
I'm sure the rest of the country will outlaw in-door smoking soon too.

As a smoker, I don't like going to restaurants that are full of smoke. That's probably considered crazy by some, but I enjoy my cigarette after supper.

I don't like smoke as an appetizer to my meal, thank you. I always ask for the non smoking section and still end of getting a whiff if too close to the other side.

I stay merely outdoors of Philadelphia,PA and there is no smoking in the full state(in eating places) Bars you are able to in the event that they do no longer serve food or serve a constrained volume. In Philly there is no smoking in any respect...era(Bars or eating places). There are exceptions nevertheless. 2 eating places close by have doors on the bar section and you will nonetheless smoke in there. unsure if it rather is legal yet they do it.

the restaurant I love to eat at, allows smoking. I would prefer no smoking but in NC they still allow it so I deal with it. The ventilation system is good enough though.
