Yes, my question does imply about the Supreme Court Justices... sorry about not clarifying that.

The one nice thing about the Court being lifetime appointments is that, the way it is, a President cannot sculpt the Court by appointing a bunch of "his guys" all at once. Chances are that half of the Court's Justices will be appointed by a Democratic President, while the other half by a Republican. A span of say, 30 years (Justices seem to like a while) under one political party's President is unlikely.

However, you are correct in assuming that lifetime appointments CAN be dangerous, if held by the wrong person, or even given to the right person for the wrong reasons.

There are ALWAYS two sides to this debate.

Of course to some a lifetime appointment is in itself "absolute power." -On the other hand if your appointed for life, you don't have to bow down to every special interest group that threatens your next election.

Churchill said it best: "Democracy is the worst form of government, except all others."

Hopefully it will never come to that. Although I don't agree with some of their rullings overall I think the ones who are in there now aren't corrupt. Like some politicians I can name lol.

Because you cannot break the system. It is the system that breaks you. Get it?
