My first adult bed was a water bed.
Pros; Warm in winter if the heater is working,
Relaxing if you are of equal weight to anyone else on the bed. (I will explain later),
Great for cuddling someone, and
Easy to make and keep free from dust mites.
Con; If your bed partner is bigger than you, there is a real risk of being rolled on in the middle and of being rolled out of the bed if they roll over energetically,
If the heater breaks or there is a power failure it is like sleeping on a cold fish,
They sometimes leak,
Sex is rather more difficult and can be less satisfying because it is not a firm suface to lie on, and
You have to make sure you regularly put algicide in- available from the same store you buy it, or it will go green on the inside (not a pretty sight.)
I hope this helps.

I used to have the king waveless with the cellulose stuff inside it and it was marvelous! You know that feeling when you first wake up - you are so snugly and totally relaxed, and all you have to do to go to sleep again is close your eyes? That is how you feel when you first get into a good waterbed to go to sleep! Wonderful! That was the PRO, and the only CON I can think of is when you would have to move it.

My parents owned a waterbed for about 10 years until it popped and flooded the carpet in their bedroom.

Pros of a waterbed: you can heat the bed, and it is kind of fun to sleep on it.
Cons of a waterbed: you feel the movements of your partner in bed, and it is not as good for your back compared to firm normal beds. Not to mention the possibility of it popping and flooding... (but I think this really happens only after the warranty period).

Well, the modern ones are nicer now. If you do get a waterbed, get the kind that has rows of fillable water sacks. This type of waterbed doesn't require heating to keep the water warm. The other kind that has just one big bag filled with water requires a heater. But in my opinion its more comfortable. I'm the kind of person who likes squishy beds though. The ones with rows of sacks is more firm.

Pros: the bed contours easily to your form, also by the use of a heater you can control the temperature of your bed.
Cons: if you share a bed, you will feel the other person move. Also if you have lower back pain, the bed will most likely not give you the support you need (this is why i got rid of mine).

I hate waterbeds because 1) its a major undertaking to rearrange a bedroom. It takes forever to remove water & to refill it. 2) it kills my back. 3) some can be difficult to get into or out of.
