My mom is always talking about how many girls are going around holding hands and saying there bi and that you would never say or heard of anyone that was bi or gay years ago. I was wondering if there really are more bi and lesbian women now. Is it because of the internet, something in the water or polyunsaturated fats, maybe it's global warming? I don't know what do you think?

people are more liberated these days. we never know what goes through the minds of the people "before us", but i'm pretty sure there are a few or a number of them who wants to come out in the open. with less restrictions nowadays, people feel free to show who and what they really are. too bad, here in the Philippines, people don't think that way.

There have always been gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender people in every culture throughout human history. For the first time in many centuries, people are understanding and accepting the presence of sexual diversity. That's why you see and hear more about people with a variety of sexual orientations. It's always been there, people's curiosity and inner desire. For a long time sexuality (of any kind) was repressed and the world is becoming more tolerant, open and understanding. Some people are not and those are the ones who resist the changes that are occuring.

Read up some queer history if you want to know more.

I doubt the actual ratios of homosexual people has changed. What has changed is that it is not near as socially unacceptable to be that way. In fact, in some circles it is trendy to be bi. So people claim it like a badge of Honor when they may not truly deserve it.

there has always been ,gay, bi, and lesbian people if you read you history, there have been times when it was not acceptable to appear in public and announce your sexual preference, , so it did not stop but was hidden away, I can only hope the world becomes more tolerant for all consenting adult people and their sexual preferences

there have always been gay and bi people, just now it is more acceptable so people are more likely and less afraid to "come out of the closet."

though some skanky teenage girls "pretend" to be bi just to ho around and get guys attention.

well I think it's more acceptable nowadays to be seen holding hands...but also other cultures are now more in evidence in North America..and they don't have the taboos that we have regarding touching people...it's nothing to see people walking arm in arm in say, China...and it has nothing to do with sex.
