i never really understood how or why relationships or lack thereof make people bitter and jaded, but now i think i understand. and it hurts.

Don't let it hurt you. Just don't get too involved with one person. You need to go out with many partners before you can figure out who is right for you. You probably had some unrealistic expectations when you had your first relationship, but you should have the expectation that you will go through many relationships before settling on the right one for you. Don't feel bad. At least you didn't get stupid and get married.

You had a few go bad, did ya? Welcome to the dating nightmare. I used to think the oldish 50 something women were all a bunch of bitter old bats, but after relating with men for the last 20 years, I know exactly why they are so bitter. Men are designed entirely to be the exact opposite of compatible, but never is it up to HIM to change, WE have to compromise, take a course on psychology to be able to have a straight conversation with him, and they can destroy whatever they want because they are stronger. Men make hating them the easiest thing one earth. It's too bad it's all such a disappointing waste of time.

I am sorry for your hurt. Unfortunately this is the risk we take when we engage in relationships, but, it is worth it to risk.
