Put the plain truth and why excuses. Explain your predicament very diplomatically. But make sure that you are not going to ask for the same obligation from the colleague on a future date.

Tell them that you already have plans for that time. Some people might say this is a lie, but you said that you would like to have a nice break for the weekend! That is your plan that you have!

You don't need a reason. If the person asks you just say "NO" and don't give an explanation. If they ask why just tell them you have personal reasons and don't say anything else.

if they call you say your drunk. if they confront you in person say you have a doctors appointment and make an excuse. either that or just say no
