It can depend on the type of soil over which it is running. If over rocks, then it will be clear, or blue to reflect the sky. Over silt and mud, dirty. Can be brown if over brown subsoil, red if over a red one. An algae bloom could cause a river to turn green. Nasty chemicals dumped in it could turn it all kinds of colours.

Most of the time it is the amount of mud and trash in the water. When it rains upstream, the Mississippi starts looking really brown as it picks up speed and dirt along the way. So by the time it gets down around Tennessee, it can look really awful.
Even little creeks that normally are peaceful little brooks can suddenly becomes a roaring torrent of water in a heavy rainstorm and it too, has that same ugly muddy color.

its the clean healthy place where it has beutiful colors it ussualy obsorbs it from the animal in it
