I have to admit, I hated my Mom, and for those who think this is wrong, you didn't know her, nor did you get the abuse and abusive treatment we (my brother and I) got from her, as for my step dad, he wasn't much better, but he woke up his last few years before he died, and made some amends. Some people just shouldn't be parents, period.

I love my parents more than my own life, they're the 2 most important figures in my life! They have bent over backwards many times for me, and never except my money when I try to pay them back. They aren't financially rich by any means either! I never had any problems getting along with them while I was growing up. Hell I lived with them until I was 24!
I'm sorry to hear your parents were so terrible, they are the most influencial people for a person growing up!

When you are a child, you can blame your parents for screwing you up. When you become an adult, you have to start taking responsibility for your behaviour. If you don't, you are on a road to being just like your parents. So, let the anger go. This is your life now and the way you live it is up to you, not your parents.

There are a lot of bad parents out there who should never have reproduced. Just accept the fact that they were what you got, and it was because of them you are here. Remember everything they did wrong, and when you become a parent (if you do) don't be like them. Be loving, a teacher, a caregiver, a mentor for your children that they can look up to. Don't expect an apology, if they were that bad, they don't see it that way. Just don't be like them.

No, but I probably should. Just a word of advice from someone whose parent's treated them like crap....let it go. Believe me, it bothers you more than it bothers them.

I'm sorry to hear that.
What parents do to their children stays with them their whole lives. Often, they don't even realize the forces driving them....
Good luck to you.
