Why do white people always insist on making Eminem out to be the greatest rapper?

ever when black folks know he definitely is not? He's good but not the greatest...what's your opinion? p.s. I'll get alot of thumbs down for this question but who cares..

i'm asking because of a question from last nite i was the only one who thought that Eminem wasn't the best but everybody else thought he was the greatest ever and they were all white....lol

I'll tell you why. The same reason they call Elvis the "King of Rock 'N' Roll", and say he invented it, even though, everybody knows he didn't. I don't want to sound racist, but I believe "White America" needs somebody white to validate our culture to them. So that's why the Beastie Boys were the first rap group to have a No. 1 album in AMerica. Vanilla Ice is the first to have a no.1 single, and Eminem is the first to get nominated for an "Album of the Year" grammy, and the first to win an Oscar. It's like we don't exist, unless they say we do. He started out good, but his last two records have been atrocious. D12 is the worst rap group ever, and I don't see why people still care about the guy, honestly. He's been wack for 7 years now.

Because he's white...people always admire celebrities that represents themselves. Black people took pride in Jamie Foxx winning the Oscar. Its natural to have pride of ones group. But for the Rapper question...there is only one way to base music performance or merit that is not subjective and that's by $ sales. If $ sales is the basis, then MM is up there as one the greatest of all time.

It's called majority rule. Here is an interesting fact. 80% of rap is bought by white suburbia just like they bought black jazz and black rock (rock was not white with the top rock act in the '50s being Fats Domino and not Elvis). Now the British are trying to get in on it with white female rappers.

Since rap is funded greatly by whites, it's only natural to pick one of their own. Just look how Elvis became king of rock and roll even though he got his start by singing covers from black artists.

i agree, hes good but not the greatest, i mean did you hear his 4th cd it was garbage for the most part, his 3rd cd was pretty good though, you got 2 give him that, who ever said 50 is the best is full of it though

I'm white and I think he sucks... I don't follow most of his stuff though. Rapping has gone down the tubes since I started hearing it when I was younger.. it used to be good/fun..now all of it is that Gangsta Rap crap and I can't stand it anymore.... everyone wants to be a Gangsta...even the little dumb white kids...like it is something to be proud of... I'm going to get a lot of thumbs down too.. but like you said.. who cares really ???
