I remember distinctly during a regular season game, I beileve it was the 85-86 season, where the quarter back McMahon caught a pass from , I think one of the running backs, probably Payton, for a touchdown. Does anybody remember what game this was? Also how many times has this happened in NFL history?

Walter Payton threw a TD to Jim McMahon against the Washington Redskins, which ended 45-10 (another Bears victory).

As for the frequency of that occurring over the course of the NFL, I cannot recall any other time that has happened. However, I could see LaDainian Tomlinson (who was inspired by Walter Payton to play football) throwing one to Philip Rivers next season.

I remember that play too. I think it was against the Redskins. McMahon stumbled, but he caught the ball in his fingerstips. Payton could do everything - run, block, catch, and pass!
