Hard to find true friends?

Question

I find it hard to find true friends, now that I am studying all on my own, staying in another state. I have lots of friends, but people kept betraying me, backstab me, and do lots of hurtful things. Sometimes, I'll get upset when I find out that I ws not invited out together with a bunch of friends.Nothing is wrong with my personalities.I'm just lke any ordinary ppl, that study often, hangout, and I am very obliging.I never say no to others.I help ppl as much as i can, that is how I want others to see me as, a caring and fun person. Unfortunatele, I nv really have good friendship with ppl.
Why is that so?

Wow, I can relate to that. I found that true friendships develop over time and when you don't expect too much. So what if they don't invite you to parties? You can host your own party and invite them...and eventually kindness will be reciprocated. And if not, you really don't want their friendships anyway. Growing up, my parents kept saying that you can tell how true a friend is when that person is there in your time of need or when you hit rock bottom. I didn't understand this until I have been thru a few relationship break-ups and other life crises and then understood who my true friends were/are. Hang in there!

Honey you just go about your day, alone or out and about and keep at least a half smile on your face. I have practiced this since many years ago. Look in the mirror what a difference a smile makes to your otherwise unapproachable face. In time a smile is automatic and most others smile back. Its all about developing a pleasant surrounding that others want to be around. If others happen to be saying something about another, never,ever take part in that. Then nothing you said can be repeated or twisted. That's gossip and if they talk about others, they will talk about you and what you said. You can make your life what you choose. Just work on being the best person you can be and the choice is yours. I cannot begin to tell you how I changed my life and God did have a lot to do with it once he seen my desire to be the best friend I could be to everyone. Come what may. Blessings to you ~~

I believe research shows that a person usually develops about 2 or 3 true friendships that are deep and mutually meaningful. So, don't despair you are in a transient situation. Life will eventually bring you the friends you need. Also, take a good look at the people you have been around. Is it possible they are rather shallow and wouldn't be the sort of true friends you would want?

Hi erny!!! Dude, i am too having the same problem as yours.I too like to help ppl and think the same way as u think.Nothing is wrong with u.the problem is with the ppl who do not understand ur feelings.
U and i will get good friends on some day or the other.Have faith in god!!!

you dont seem very bad, you actually sound nice
some people are just really dumb these days
and well its true it really hard to find true freinds
and it hurts when you think that the ones you think are true are not
like backstab. just wait abit, somewhere you'll finda friend and be happy. just really the places you go are very unfourtunate. just keep on looking :]

I don't know. If that keeps on happening, then evaluate yourself. It would not be fair to say that your friends are the wrong ones because all of your friends does this to you.

You seem to be a nice guy. just be yourself and have fun.Dont care what others think about you.You are what you are and just stay that way.
