Here is my opinion on the Pats Jets game tomorrow the jets are unbelievably out matched and playing on the road I break it down that if you take the starting 11 on both sides of the ball and stack them up its patriots 15 to the jets 7 and that if wilfork doesnt play the jets edge being at reciever with coles and cotchery on offense and on defense the jets advantage Oelhoffen Vilma Dyson Coleman and rhodes I know its just on paper but with the home crowd and a bitter taste from the last meeting this looks like a pats slaughter

first off, yes, the jets beat the pats the first time, however, this is playoff football we are talking about. The jets are unproven in this arena and the pats, well lets just put it this way, Belichek and Brady in the playoffs are the at the level to which all others strive for. I myself am a Bears fan, but you cannot discount playoff experience in this case. The rivalry is fierce because Mangini tried to get the same players that the pats were already in contracts with. That is a no-no in the Bill Parcells coaching dogma. That is the same reason Bill Parcells passed on a kicker that he so desperately needed (he was on the patriots roster at the time). Mangini broke the cardinal rule of his mentor. Plus, it is very hard to beat the same rival team twice in the same year. Even though Pennington is the comeback player of the year, I foresee the pats winning this one big. Pats 35, Jets 20.

I think your logic of saying that the Pats starting 11 is better than the Jets is reasonable, but the real matchup comes down to the coaches. Belichick is still pissed from the Jets win earlier in the season and wants to prove that he's the teacher and Mangini is the student. Another huge factor is experience. Pats have been here before, many times and the Jets haven't. I don't see how the Jets will be able to run or escape pressure from the Pats D with such a banged-up offense. Belichick will make the right adjustments and yes, the Pats are just a better team. I'd say, no slaughtering but Pats win within 7 points.

Interestin observations ... just a couple of additional factors to add in.

1) Rodney Harrison has been declared OUT for this game. This gives the Jets a little leeway when it comes to the passing game.

2) While there is still a chance to play, both Vince Wilfork (NT)and Ben Watson (TE) (integral to the team's success on either side of the ball) are still questionable, and may not get much playing time at all. If Wilfork is out, the Jets will look to break down the rush defense here. If Watson is out, David Thomas will probably step in. He may be good, but Watson's rapport with Brady is solid and has yet to really be copied with the rookie TE.

3) The Jets already have a home victory against the Patriots in Gillette Stadium during the regular season. This gives the Jets an intangible advantage ... the fact that they can beat the Patriots at home when they have to. Since this is the playoffs, the Jets have to win.

4) Chad Pennington has been farely successful against the Patriot defense, throwing for 474 yards with 3 TDs to 2 INTS. Brady, against the Jets defense, edged out Pennington by one yard (475), but threw on less TD and matched him for INTs (2 & 2). Pennington is not afraid of the Patriot defense and will look to expose their passing weakness (made greater by #1 earlier on the list).

5) The rushing game of New England may look superior, but remember that its points that count, and their last meeting held the rushing combination of Dillon and Maroney out of the end zone. The Jets may not have any fierce rushers obviously, so the advantage on paper still leans to the Patriots in this area unless #2 comes into effect (no Wilfork = better rushing opportunities for the Jets).

While there are a few more question marks surrounding the Jets current lineup due to injuries than the Patriots, I don't see a massacre coming at all. Already it was presumed that Kansas City would run all over Indianapolis's defense with Larry Johnson (which didn't happen at all with 13 rushes for 32 yards). Also, who could have predicted an 8-point swing for Seattle off of a single fumble (safety, then march down the field for a Hasselbeck to Stevens TD with a botched 2-pt. conversion)?

I actually can see this as the best game of the weekend due to the intangibles that both teams bring into this game. However, as much as I usually go with logic, I will call an upset in the making. You should never completely count any team out, and I think the Patriots are doing that right now.

The Jets win in an upset 24-21 via last-second field goal (which would be very appropriate regarding the New England history with last second field goals).

First off im a Giants Fan but i will anwer this anyway. The jets coach has alot to prove to his old mentor (who btw cant stand mangini) They each have won one on each others home turf this season so in my opinion I think the Jets players would love to win this one for there coach. I also think the jets have more heart then the pats, its gonna be a close and physical game. the outcome i think will be pats 14 the jets 17
