All microwave ovens leak some energy. Keep away unless you don't mind your future children being mutants.

The honeycomb matrix on the window of the microwave is designed to a specific size to prevent the microwaves from penetrating though (a microwave length is roughly 3 inches long). The way in which microwave's cook is by using these electromagnetic waves to vibrate the atoms of the object inside, thus heating it. By using high frequency and much more power then other sources of electromagnetic radiation, this is the only cause for concern. However the microwaves are conducting when exposed to specific metals, as im sure most of you have experienced. Your bombarded everyday by massive doses of ambient electromagnetic waves coming from over the air broadcasts, cellphones, and other wireless devices. So don't worry about it...

In general, microwaves are shielded to prevent microwave radiation leakage. So, no not usually. HOWEVER if the shielding has broken down it can leak a small amount of radiation which is probably not terribly healthy.

Will it kill you? probably not, but why risk it?

Is it healthy for any radiation to come in contact with your body?

Negative, microwaves are harmful just like all other waves of radiation.

ya, it is. there's this ray that comes from the microwave that if you stand in front of it or open before it says 'end', you can develop some sort of sickness over time that's suppose to be really really really bad for you. i opened the microwave door once when it was like 1 second away from being done n my mom hella yelled at me

No. Microwave ovens are well sealed against leaking radiation. Even if there were a leak, it would not be injurious.

NO! its an urban myth. Microwaves are completely safe. If they weren't safe, they wouldn't be sold in stores.

Your mom probably knows a lot, but she doesn't know what she's talking about. :)

silly ( the early ones had slight leakage around the door seals and that is the reason for the pacemaker warning signs you still see every now and then - the newer ones don't )

No,
because it use some sort of waves (micro) and these kind of waves dosn't affect human body.

Only if the door leaks or you have a pacemaker.
