Well, CS is a Bachelor of Science major so you'll be taking a calculus class. You should have a basic understanding of it of course, just to have a well rounded education. But you'll definately need it for your major (graduation)

Yesssss..... I'm studying Automatics and applied computer science and I've had plenty of math courses, like superior math analysis, superior algebra, numerical methods - including using Matlab. All these related to Physics, Basic Quantum Physics, Electronic Devices and Circuits, The Structure of Digital Circuits.
Computer Science is a difficult area to major in because of all the math and physics involved. But it's also beautiful once you understand that with it you can manipulate almost every electronic device around you.
So.... get in there and learn Calculus. You don't have to get an A in it, but don't fail it either.

Not just limited to `necessary understanding'but a comprehensive one.It's an embarrassing question coming from someone who wants or desires to major in computer science.

Yes. Calculus is fundamental in making anything that has any physics in it.
