Yes. First you need to know the basics...
Is this plant recommended for full sun or part shade?
Is it an indoor or outdoor plant?
If it's an indoor plant, it is safe to say to place it by a window so that it gets a fair amount of sunlight. Don't place it in the winter near a heater. That will dry it out, wilt the leaves, and possibly kill it. Every week or so, twist the base of the pot the plant is in to face another angle, so that all sides of the leaves of the plant receive an equal amount of sunlight.
If it's an outdoor plant, you must follow the recommendations from the nursery or details on the plastic stick usually placed in the soil of the plant. If it's full sun, keep it watered, and don't allow the soil to completely dry out. If it's part sun and shade, then make sure it is placed in an area that will please the plants palate!
Happy planting and enjoy!

I'm not an expert, but I've managed to keep the same plants alive for the last ten years. Yes where a plant is, is important. They all need varing degrees of light. I would initially try to place the plant in a place where it recieves light that is not too strong, like nice morning sunshine. Where I live is hot, so more time is spent trying to stop plants from drying out. How well a plant does a lot of the times, unless you are a real expert, usuall comes down to what sort it is. If you have trouble with this one, I suggest you go see someone at a nursery and explain your needs, It's what i did, and now i no longer consider myself a killer of all things green. Good luck.

Yes. Every plant species has different needs. Some need more light, some like shade. What type of plant you're growing will dictate where you put it. Contact http://www.mobot.org/ as they would know more about the situation. I don't know what you're trying to grow.

hell yeah, but if you want a useful answer, you need to tell us what sort of plant you are talking about, what sort of environment you are thinking of putting it in. Is the plant in a pot, soil or hyrdo?

Bascially you want a plant to be in a place that is as close to it's natural environment to get maximum growth.
