How many quarters per year in a quarter system?

Is it 3 or 4?
Im taking 15 credits per quarter in CC
how many quarters I'll get if I take summer class
and will I be able to take classes like Calculus that kind of class that really matters in summer?
I'm freshman and know nothin about this stuff

The quarter system has 4 quarters (or terms) per year. Fall, Winter, Spring, and Summer (even though it may be a shorter length of time versus the 'regular' quarter sessions).

If you decide to take a Calculus class during the summer, be aware that if the summer quarter is shorter (6 or 8 weeks versus typical 10-12 week quarter), then you'll be required to learn the material on an accelerated time table. Something to consider, especially if taking other courses with the math that require as much, if not more, time to do well and pass the course.

There are three quaters during the typical school year. If you want to take summer session classes they come in a variety of types depending on the institution and the class. There are 5 week courses that cover a whole class in half the time, and typically there is a first session and a second session, both of which you can sign up for. There are 2 week courses that do the same, but they basically last everyday all day for those two weeks. And I've also come across entire 2-3 course series being covered over the entire summer.

In college 3. Each semester is 16 weeks. 16 x 3 = 48. There are only 52 weeks in a year.
