Its all been downhill after the Sugarhill gang. And for all of you that worship Tupac, look up a group called Digital Underground. That's right, before he was the genius gangsta poet, he was providing backup for Humpty Hump.

That's a trick question. The one who's the most dominate is definitely Dr. Dre, who is probably the most influential artist period over the past 20 years. He changed music with NWA. Before him, rappers who cursed, didn't even get on the radio. He's made music, for better or worse, a lot gritter, by making the gangsta sound palatable for pop audiences. Whoever your favorite rapper is now, wouldn't be, if Dre hadn't changed what could be on radio.

As far as rapper, you have to say, another guy from NWA, Ice Cube. He's had more classic albums than anyone in hip-hop history(NWA's Straight OUtta Compton, Kill At Will, Amerikkkas Most Wanted, Death Certificate, Predator, Lethal Injection, Westside Connection), and did what 2pac did, and what Eminem now does, which is use his music as a way to vent his animosity at the world. Don't let the family movies fool ya. He was the most famous gangsta rapper in the world at one time.

Firstly, Akon is not Hip-Hop he's RnB

In that list, I would say Eminem is the best. His wordplay is amazing! But Snoop has always gotten the best beats, but his lyrics have kinda dropped and rebounded (on his recent album).

I would say Nas or 2pac might be the greatest hip-hop artists of all-time...That is because I study lyricists and I enjoy their material. Illmatic by Nas will forever be the gold standard of hip-hop...everything will be compared to it b/c that album was built upon perfection. Oh and 2pac never had a bad album when he was alive...

Dr Dre, Snoop, Eminem, Biggie, and I think the Game will be up there when we talk about this LATER in life. Eminem put his whole heart into his lyrics and flow, "I am whatever you say I am, if I wasn't then why would I say I am " !!! NWA was the best group by far !!!

the best hip hop artist is the one who has the most meaning and truth to their music... dr dre, 2pac, snoop dogg, eminem are fantastic rappers because they speak the truth and discontinue the theme of money, hoes and getting laid.... snoop dogg is one of my favs tho--- this guy can STILL pop a hot album out--props!

I like all of them but I think The Wu tang Clan had some of the best rhymes I've ever heard.
