I bought some red-eared turtles. Do they live on land or in water? What I see is that they live on land. How do I set it up for them?

I have 2 red eared turtle and have owned them for several years. They are mostly a water turtle but do need a basking are so the can dry the shell out. They also need a good light source so they can heat them selves do to them being cold blooded. They also need a variety of fresh fruits and vegetables also lean protein like live fish crickets and worms. If they are young they will have to get used to eating these and not just pellets. Also if they are older and have not been fed this they will also have to get used to eating these things. Also they have to be fed in water eighther in a small feeding dish,or in a separate feeding container so your tank does not get dirty. Also they grow very fast and for two red eared turtles you will need about a 55 gal tank with a filter and a basking place so they can get out of the water.

Red ear sliders need both land and water.
You can pick up what you need at a pet shop.
Be sure to get a good water filter.
Its hard to keep the tank clean.
In very little time the tank becomes dirty and foul smelling.
It will help if you have a smaller tank to feed them in.
Yep; take the turtle out feed it and wait a little while and place it back in it's main tank. This will help ,
and make you and the turtle much happier.

Red ear sliders are 'pond turtles'. Like other pond turtles, they love space, warmth, and sunshine.

Space- 10 gallons of swimming space per inch of turtle shell length

Warmth- 75-80F water temps and 90F basking sites

Sunlight- lighting that provides UV-B rays (which do not penetrate most glass or plastics)

They are both. you need an area were they can climb out of the water and onto rocks or some kind of land. you should also put a heat lamp on the rocks
