an administrative position with a school?

Do you think they mean a college degree in music? Or just experience in music (i.e. played an instrument?) ?

My degree is in Business but the job related to music in an office setting sounds interesting.... I just don't want to look like an idiot applying to something completely out of my league.

I think it depends specifically on what the job entails. It could mean a college degree in music or experience in playing, or both. It might be something as minor as knowing the difference between a violin and flute.

If you have a background in music, no matter how minor you think it may be, play this part of your resume/cover letter up. Address your background....if it's what they are looking for(and sometimes even if it's not) they'll call you in to talk to you and find out more. Your background might not be what they're looking for, but if it's something interesting and you grab their curiosity--it could get you the job. Good luck.

Unless you will be a full time music teacher...Sounds like just experience in music (i.e. played an instrument?).

Go ahead and apply and let them decide if you are qualified or not.

Always worth a try!

Good Luck!
