You have failed to fail.

So you have succeeded.

If you try to fail, and you succeed (as in properly failing), you've failed.

If you try to fail and you succeed (as in failing to fail), you're succeeded.

But why speak of failing, when every failure is the seed of an equal success?

if you succed where you meant to fail, the end result that you describe as a sucess in your question would be failing, therefore, the action described as failing is the desired result thus becoming a sucessful situation if met. therefore you never suceeded in the first place, all you did was try to reach a different outcome and failed to do so.

You had a minor success on your way to failing. It's like being ahead at halftime. You did part of the task correctly, but ultimately you failed.

Depends on if you succeeded at failing or at what the activity was. If it was failing, I would say you reached your goal, so you were successful.
