DO not get either. Save a little more money or look else were. Do not grab a PC with less then a AMD Athlon 3500+ that should be your minimum for what you want I suggest a 2x AMD 4200+

You can get a good gaming computer now a days for $1000 Canadian without counting the monitor before tax. And if you look harder you can get an even better deal. The AMD Athlon 64 3200+ is not so bad but games that have come out recently need better then either of the two you mentioned.

The video card and ram is equally important but AMD Athlon is a great CPU type for gaming and I highly suggest a 3500+ or a 4200+ and they are pretty common.

I personally would go with the Athlon 64 3200+ its features are farther advanced than the Sempron

Athlon processors are way better than Sempron counterparts. Athlon rivals Intel Pentium series, while Sempron competes Intel Celeron.

Athlon 64 3200+

There is no need to listen to Sarah, I have a 3500+ which has a mear 200mhz difference, and I can play DOOM oh high, and FEAR on meduim settings, with good FPS. Unless you want high end gaming, it should be fine.

Definitely ATHLON.

Sarah has a valid point.
You want to be able to play tomorrow's games as well ... go for a little more muscle. It will only cost a few dollars more & 6 months from now you will thank her for the good advice.

Whichever one impacts your pocketbook the least.
They are both good processors.

Whichever one you get, will be a faster one next month, add ram.
