The bug was a moth. It caused a problem in an IBM mainframe computer years ago and hence the term "bug" was created...

It was also a million dollar question on the origianal "Who Wants to be a Millionaire" show in it's first season with Regis Philbin where the contestant won (easy question for $1,000,000)

I remember from a computer class a zillion years ago, they said that some early computer some where, back when computers were as big as a whole room, that a moth or some kind of bug actually got inside the computer and shorted something out. (sorry for the run-on) That was back when they still used those tubes and it took 100's of them to do what transistors and the chips finally starting doing.

Back in the day when computers used to be really big, actual insects would get into the thing and keep it from working properly. That's where the term "there's a bug" comes from :p

It was literally a ( insect, bug , MOTH ) that messed up a computer years ago and so now the poor little buggers get blamed for all our glitches!
