I am an American, and I like to know if it is true that people don't like around the world. If you are not an American, please tell me. Are we bad people?

Not sure if you care for my input, because I am American, but I'll see if I can make any sense to you.

You cannot wholly label one group of people as "bad." There is no defining negative behavioral characteristic for the entire American people that would classify us as bad. If people from other countries say they hate America or something similar I think that reason would mainly be because of leadership and how they portray themselves. American is in the limelight arguably more than any other nation on the Earth, so having a President that is disliked by many people in the world tends to make people think less of the actual American people.

There are bad people in America, as there are everywhere. Unfortunately the good people's reputation suffers more from negative leadership portrayals then attempts at good deeds.

So in a nutshell, though some people in other countries may hold a negative view of Americans based on their leadership or isolated events, this does not inherently make us bad people.

Best Regards,
Zachary

I believe that there's good and bad everywhere; saying that Americans are bad people would be really silly; there's good and bad there too, like anywhere else. As a foreign, I can tell you one thing, Americans' mentality differs a bit from mine, but I don't see it as a negative thing as I believe that people can learn a lot from differences; what I noticed is a very strong religious Faith in lots of Americans, and that, sometimes can be a problem for an Atheist like me or for believers of other Faiths; when their Faith is strong ( a legitimate feature indeed) they tend to become arrogant acting and talking if they're superior and better than the others, as if their moral ground is higher than anybody else's one; I do respect every Faith and dislike any form of arrogance or disrespect. I have some American friends, and I get along well with them; my boyfriend is American and he's a great guy; my only fear is that his strong religious Faith may cause serious problems between us in the future...hope it won't, yet, denying that there's a problem would be silly...In short: I have nothing against Americans, on the contrary I basically like them and enjoy my every stay in the US; you live in a great country and are great people.

Good and bad people come in all colors/shapes/sizes/and countries. As a world traveler, the farther you get away from the inner cities, the nicer the people are. If you treat people with respect, repect is usually returned. Even in a bad situation, no one wants to appear bad by being a jerk to the person that has just treated them respectfully.

Fugitivea... Consider, maybe it is possible there is a God and that He placed you with your boyfriend for that reason... and maybe more....

I am an Amercan and have lived in 3rd world countries- people are people wherever you go... we all have same needs and desires and there are bad apples in every bunch. People tend to disciminate the whole group... just as Americans tend to feel the French are not so nice. There may be some French not nice but as a whole, when it gets down to life basics... we are the same.

No, I think Americans are good people, generous and fun loving, Yes, in order to restore democracy and order in the world if they have to exercise some 'muscles' I think they are right and justified, as an Indian I know how many brothers and fellow country men of mine are killed by 'Terrorists' and innocent people are targeted everywhere in the world by them, so if President Bush is bold enough to pursue them and bring them to 'justice', he's doing a great job!!! See, it's not being averse to a particular religion but it's also a fact that majority of these elements hail from a 'fundamentalist' belief which is detrimental to good people of this nice religion too!!! It shouldnt be viewed as though Americans are forcing people but it's also a fact that majority of 'investments' or 'funds' are given by Americans and they are helping poor and needy, So, as an Indian I love Americans and I am also fond of some 'Hollywood Celebrity' who embodies the beauty and caring of this great great country!!!!

No, not always. But Americans tend to think that they are always right and always think they have the moral high ground. That is what pisses people off. But other than that, Americans are great.

I am American, but I will tell you something from experience traveling to different countries: We Americans tend to have a spirit of superiority. This doesn't make us "bad," but does make life rough for us when we are in need.

People are people. There are a**holes in every group, and I guess American a**holes are just louder than a**holes in other places, and give everyone else that bad name :-).

You cannot accurately judge an entire group based on a minority of people.
