It seems like my PS2 has problems reading "Star Wars Battlefront II". I bought a copy and when I try to play it, it just doesn't load at all (as in a black screen after I reset/manually choose the game from the browser). My friend also came over and tried to play HIS copy of Battlefront II, but it had the same problem. It would work on his PS2 though (which was a slim version). ALL of my other games work perfectly on mine. My PS2 is a 30001 R model...

Any ideas on why this is happening?

I personally cannot afford a PS3.

The game in question is "NTSC | U/C". Is it really the laser's fault? It can read ALL my other games.

well it seems like ur ps2 is kinda getting old and kinda getting dusty, u can solve that problem but its gonna take some risk. u or someone who has some knowledge on electronics can just open up the ps2, look for the thing where lasers come out and get a cotton bud and gently clean the laser with the cotton buds. the risk is, if u scratch that laser u will never be able to play any games again, unless u change that laser with a new which is really really hard. if u have a question on how to open up the ps2, google it ull find tons of information on how to open it

possibly corrupted data.

the game might also be the wrong format for your PS2 seeing as how it doesn't load at all. eg, NTSC format PS2 wont play Pal format games and vice versa.

but if this game is the same format as your other games then it would most likely be corrupted data or something else. hard to say if the problem lies with the game or the PS2. if your copy plays properly on your friend's PS2 though, there is probably something wrong with your PS2, maybe it is time to update it.

The best way to solve this problem is to play the game on a PS3. Since the PS3 can automatically saves game datas directly on the hard drive without any memory cards. I personally own a PS3. Playstation 3 rulez!

Corrupted save data. I've had this problem with my copy of Bully, it will not work on my PS2. I would try deleting your save file and restarting the game. Did you happen to turn your system off/drop it when it was saving or loading?

That noise is brought about via certainly one of two issues, the disc tray is off kilter, no longer likely yet has befell, or the disc spinner is off kilter, very uncomplicated in machines over some years previous. there's no thank you to repair it with out tearing the full device aside, that's extra perplexing than it sounds, and resetting the gadget products and repairing the broken screws or sprockets inflicting the disc to be off kilter and rubbing against the tray or the laser. superb wager could be just to interchange it. it is via vast gripe approximately Sony, they did no longer make those machines to final a unfold of years, they choose you to purchase a sparkling one ever 3-4 years, a number of their machines smash down earlier that factor physique, others final longer than that, the machines are made to brake, and that they are stressful to repair.

If it's been dropped, you'll have to open it up and adjust the level of the lens. My youngest decided to pull mine off the big screen and depending on the color of the disk, it wouldn't read some games.
