Because you put too big of a rim on your Chevy...

You will need to get someone or yourself to cut part of the fender of your car so that the tire can turn freely.

My 1974 Nova came stock with 195 75 14. These are 14 inch rims. The site below will help show what different rim size will keep the same outside diameter. This should keep you within the fender. The width may the hang up. The tire may be hitting some part of the frame, or front suspension member. Support the front end with jack stands and have someone turn the wheel and watch. I hope you kept the stock wheels. Hope this helps.

You need to tub out the wheel wells, you know the plastic fenders behind the tires. Oh and you'll probably need a new steering box and speedometer cables, because you're going to throw it all off with 20 in rims, way too big for that car.

1974 chevy nova came with 14-15" rims from factory, although I understand plus-sizing is very common these days. I would say that probably the maximum wheel size for that car is probably 17" maybe 18 if youre lucky. my recommendation is to go to your local tire store for plus-sizing guide which may not be available for that old of car probably going to be a process of elimination starting with 17" wheels.

they will fit in the wheel well but when you turn it will hit the side of the wheel well causing it to create friction which will tear up your tires. i suggest low profile tires or smaller rims. you could cut out the wheel well to make it bigger so it fits but that will take away from the beauty of the car.

Your wheels are too big. 74 Nova's use a 16 inch rim.
